According to World Energy News on August 10th, GlobalData, the world's leading data analysis company, said that the global carbon capture hydrogen production capacity of renewable energy or natural gas will increase by more than 20 times, reaching 14 million tons/year
    .

GlobalData's latest report "Hydrogen Transformation Prospects and Trends-Third Quarter of 2021" shows that the latest announcement has brought the total production capacity of low-carbon projects under construction to more than 20 million tons per year
    .

Of this capacity, 85% comes from “green hydrogen” projects, which use renewable energy to produce hydrogen, and the remaining 15% comes from “blue hydrogen” projects, which use natural gas to produce hydrogen but are equipped with carbon capture technology

Most of the capacity in the pipeline comes from projects that are still in the feasibility stage and are uncertain
    .

GlobalData’s 2030 outlook predicts that under the high-carbon scenario, the low-carbon hydrogen production capacity will reach 14 million tons/year, and in the low-carbon scenario, the low-carbon hydrogen production capacity will reach 8 million tons/year, although it is still higher than the current 600,000 tons.

GlobalData Energy Analyst Will Scargill commented: “Low-carbon hydrogen can reduce emissions for the refining and chemical industries, and can also provide a way to decarbonize industries that are difficult to reduce emissions such as heavy-duty transportation and industry
    .

The industry has a rapid growth in this decade.

In addition to promoting the development of production capacity, the key determinants of the growth of the low-carbon hydrogen industry will be policy support and the development of a broader value chain
    .

The European Union announced an ambitious hydrogen strategy last year, and governments in many countries around the world are formulating policies to seize the share of this growing market and accelerate their own energy transition

Cooperative relationships have also emerged between companies representing different parts of the value chain to establish a coherent development strategy
    .

This includes cooperation between companies that develop production capabilities and companies that have potential customers

Scargill concluded: “The rapid development of the low-carbon hydrogen field will depend on cooperation between enterprises and with the government
    .

This will achieve the industry’s growth through the development of new demand market segments and production capacity, expansion of technology scale and reduction of costs.
