Original title: Found! Pepper so spicy reason pepper
gene
group information heat science institute for
why spicy pepper? The level of pepper base determines the spicyness of the pepper. On October 16th
chinese
scientists announced that they had found the source of the pepper base and which genes were critical to the "spicy" taste mechanism of pepper.
the latest results, published in the journal Nature-Communication, were completed by seven units, including the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and the Chinese Agricultural University and the Malaysian Academy of Sciences. They mapped the fine genome at the chromosome level of the "hot quote 1" chromosome of pepper cultivation species in China, which is the first species to report on genome assembly in Magnolia Yagang Pepper, comprehensively interpreted the genomic characteristics of pepper, the evolutionary location of species, and conducted in-depth research on pepper-alkali anabolic networks and key genes and their gene families, providing new insights into the evolution of plants and the analytic synthesis of pepper-alkali.
pepper is a tropical woody vine plant of Mulan Yagang pepper pepper genus pepper, known as the "King of Spices" "Black Gold" reputation, in the process of human history and civilization occupies a unique position. In medieval Europe, pepper was a symbol of social status and wealth, priced more than gold and silver, and could be used as a currency for circulation. The expansion of pepper trade routes has led to important historical events such as the opening of new routes and the discovery of geography. At present, pepper is widely grown in tropical, subtropical more than 30 countries and regions, has become an important medium for serving the Belt and Road Initiative.
team combined PacBio's third-generation sequencing, 10X Genomics, BioNano single-molecule optical map based on direct labeling and staining (DLS) and Hi-C chromosomal interactive capture to achieve four sequencing techniques for pepper chromosomal-level assembly. Based on the comparative genomic and systematic development analysis of 21 typical species, the systematic development location of pepper and its Magnolia sub-gang was determined, i.e. Magnolia sub-gang and the whole single-leaf-twin leaf were sisterly, pepper-mulan-changmu were sisterly to each other, and differentiated about 175-187 million years ago.
the same time, the research team further through gene family amplification, comparative transcription group and sequence evolution analysis, revealed the most important functional substance pepper-alkali biosynthetic specificity, the preliminary explanation of pepper-alkali biosynthetic molecular structure. They found that the synthesis of pepper base is mainly controlled by phenylalanine metabolism, lysine metabolism-related genes and acrylic metastase genes, which are significantly different from the formation of other secondary metabolic substances such as capsaicin, reflecting the novelty of pepper-spicy formation mechanism.
the research is mainly supported by the basic scientific research business expenses of the central public welfare research institutes and the protection of species resources of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas. Hu Lisong, an associate researcher at the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences, and Dr. Xu Zhongping of Huazhong Agricultural University are co-authors of the paper, and Yan Chaoyun, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences, and Jin Shuangman, a professor at Huazhong Agricultural University, are co-authors of the paper.
