Albert Ferrer Lladosa, General Manager of Aquaculture at Europrawn Hellas, said the company was established to develop a sustainable and environmentally friendly shrimp farming industry in Europe, based on FAO's Blue Economy Principles, which has already been achieved
    .

Native to the warm waters of Australia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Africa, black tiger shrimp are often farmed on shrimp fry obtained from wild, non-domesticated seedlings that are raised
in extensive or semi-dense open pond systems in their native range.

Ferrer Lladosa said that due to the physiological and behavioral characteristics of black tigers, especially in land-based indoor systems, farming black tiger shrimp is certainly more challenging
    than farming white-legged shrimp.

The company's culture system uses BIOZEST (Biosafety Zero Exchange Shrimp Technology), a bacteria-led circulating water culture system that bioremediates wastewater and reuses
    the environment with zero emissions.

The farm is currently importing shrimp from a certified Thai supplier using broodstock from Western Australia, India and Madagascar, and currently has a farm facility of approximately 16,000 m2 with a capacity of 50 tonnes and plans to add four more zones to 300 tonnes and provide approximately 120 jobs
    by 2023.
