Greece's latest round of renewable energy tenders will include solar and wind energy and will be priced at €64.
72/MWh, the first joint tender in Greece, first announced in 2018 as part of Greece's
Renewable Energy Master Plan 2018-2020.
Initial plans envisaged a 400-megawatt joint solar wind auction
last year and this year.
However, with no joint auction last year, Greek regulator RAE decided to bid for a total capacity
of up to 600 MW next month.
Interested developers must submit their online applications
by 5 p.
m.
(EET) on March 21.
Participants will also need to submit a hard copy
of their application by 3 p.
m.
(EET) on March 27.
Notably, regulators have relaxed the requirement that bids be 75% oversubscribed to be valid, which applies to auctions in July and December, meaning that subscription levels above 40% and subscription capacity reach 840 MW.
However, as few PV projects hold such permits, requiring eligible projects to have obtained a generation license and grid connection agreement remains a major hurdle
for developers.
Solar projects are required to have at least 20 megawatts of capacity to participate in next month's auction, though that capacity can be a summary of sub-projects, as long as it contains at least two solar farms and is connected to the grid
through a single substation.
Clusters of joint PV and wind projects using a single substation can also be bidding, as long as the total capacity reaches 50 MW.
For wind power projects, the minimum capacity is 50 MW, although this capacity can also be aggregated
from separate projects using the same substation.
Finally, PV and wind power projects previously granted "strategic investment" status by the Greek government can also participate
