Gut: Existing imaging methods are still not effective in screening for pancreatic cancer in time!

Pancreatic cancer is a kind of cancer with a high fatality rate.

This study aims to evaluate the long-term benefits of pancreatic cancer surveillance in high-risk genetically susceptible populations.

From 2006 to 2019, researchers retrospectively recruited asymptomatic individuals with an estimated lifetime risk of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) ≥10%.

In total, 366 individuals were recruited, including 201 non-mutant relatives of familial pancreatic cancer (FPC) patients and 165 PDAC susceptible gene mutation carriers .

In summary, for known carriers of high-risk mutations, regular follow-up PDAC diagnosis rate is relatively high, but no PDAC was found in FPC relatives who do not carry the mutation.
