Russian Satellite News Agency, Moscow, March 31.
Oleg Sirota, head of the Russian Cheese Makers Union, said at the Valdai debate club "The world is on the brink of hunger: How to overcome the current food crisis?" Exports of cheese to China can begin as soon as the market demands it , which is about 5 years later .

He pointed out that before the coronavirus pandemic, Chinese citizens often traveled to European countries and they knew about European cheeses
    .

"The outlook is actually good because China has a huge market and high-end cheese is already highly valued in China," he said
    .

When Russia overproduces cheese, it can start exporting it to China and other countries, he said
    .
Sirota noted that Russian meat exports to China have also developed in a similar fashion
    .
In 2021, China became the largest buyer of Russian meat, and as in 2020, more than a third of Russia's meat exports went to China
    .

"At the moment, Russia and Belarus provide themselves with about 90 percent of dairy products
    .
When we increase the remaining 10 percent of production, which is about 3 million tons, we can start exporting,
    " he said.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has a self-sufficiency rate of 84 percent in milk and dairy products
