Marine debris is increasingly becoming a significant source of waste and pollution
    .
On land, this waste is often landfilled or incinerated; in the ocean, fishing gear and ropes abandoned by the maritime industry pose a dangerous trap for a variety of marine life

    .
Plastix, a Danish cleantech recycling company, is determined to solve this problem by proposing a technology that enables used fishing nets, trawl nets and ropes that would previously be discarded in the environment to be mechanically recycled into high-grade, virgin-like raw materials

    .

This presents an interesting new resource for Hexpol TPEs
    .

Jill Bradford, global marketing manager for Hexpol TPE, said: “We are constantly investigating new sources of recycling to support the transition from virgin materials
    .
Repurposing what would otherwise be waste, giving it new life to help preserve valuable materials Circulation

    .
What attracted us to working with Plastix was the control and quality of their products, and the fact that their work is based on certification

    .
They have conducted life cycle assessments to provide data on the carbon footprint of their products

    .

Hexpol TPE has now launched a new family of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials containing recycled content from used offshore ropes
    .

The latest addition to the Dryflex Circular TPE portfolio, Dryflex Circular MWR TPEs are Shore A to Shore D, contain 10% to 60% recycled content, and are available in black, blue, green and mint colors
    .

The Dryflex Circular TPE portfolio also offers custom materials containing PCR (post-consumer) and PIR (post-industrial) recyclates
    .
Dryflex Circular TPE can be recycled in closed loop systems
