Protection and deprotection are widely used in organic synthesis.
Tert-butyl imide is a very common type of functional group in organic synthesis, and the corresponding primary amine product can be obtained by removing the tert-butyl sulfinyl group.

Tert-butylsulfinyl is generally deprotected under acidic conditions, which may cause a series of compatibility problems with functional groups, such as coexistence problems with Boc.
