According to the MRCHUB website Moscow on October 11, Honeywell International said it will launch a technology
that can increase the supply of low-carbon fuels for ethanol production, Reuters reported.

Honeywell's technology can improve sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production efficiency to reduce costs
    .
Aviation is considered one of the hardest sectors to decarbonize because fuels are not easily substituted
    by other energy sources.
Refineries have been working to increase SAF production to reduce emissions
    .

Kevin O'Neil, senior head of UOP's renewable fuels business at Honeywell, said that as demand for SAFs increases, we have been looking for different ways to produce more SAFs in an economical way that enables mass adoption and production to replace significant portions of
the aviation and diesel fuel pools.

Depending on the type of ethanol feedstock used, the company says its technology can reduce greenhouse gas emissions
by 80 percent over its entire life cycle compared to petroleum-based jet fuel.
In the United States, ethanol is mainly made
    from corn.

SAF plants using Honeywell technology can be installed modularly, offsite to reduce costs, speed up installations and reduce labor intensity
, the company press release said.
With this approach, producers can build new SAF capacity
more than a year faster than conventional construction, the press release said.
The technology will also enable refineries and other fuel producers to convert existing or idle facilities to SAF production plants
    .

In September 2021, the United States launched a plan to increase SAF production to at least 3 billion gallons per year by 2030 and have enough SAF to meet 100% of aviation fuel demand by 2050, which is currently expected to be about 35 billion gallons
    per year.
The recent Inflation Reduction Act, a climate bill that includes incentives for low-carbon fuels, is also likely to accelerate demand
    for SAF feedstocks.
