The Center for Food Safety (CFS) received a notification from the European Commission’s Food and Feed Rapid Alert System in early August, stating that certain samples of prepackaged shelled pistachios exported from Italy to Hong Kong were contaminated with aflatoxin at a concentration of 282 per kilogram.

Micrograms, which exceeds the maximum allowable concentration of aflatoxin in pistachios (15 micrograms per kilogram of food) set by the "Hazardous Substances in Food Regulations" (Chapter 132AF)
