    Entomologia Generalis

According to Associate Researcher Zhang Yibo, the new pest tomato leafminer belongs to the Lepidoptera Glycineidae, and is a major malignant invasive species worldwide

The introduction of dominant natural enemies of origin is one of the important strategies to prevent and control invasive alien species

The study found that the leaf miner larvae has four typical host selection behaviors against tomato leaf miner larvae, namely parasitism, feeding, direct death and rejection

Researchers drew a flow chart of the three host selection behaviors of parasitic wasps, parasitism, feeding, and direct death

The study also found that the parasitic wasp's selection behavior for different instar hosts: the parasitic wasp tends to feed on the 1-2 instar tomato leaf miner larvae, parasitize the 3rd instar larva, and directly kill the 4th instar larva

The research results laid a theoretical foundation for the research and development of the technical system of using this parasitic wasp to control tomato leaf miner

The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program
