Qualitative analysis is to determine what component each chromatographic peak represents in the chromatogram
Pour the unknown sample and the known standard on the same chromatographic column, analyze them under the same chromatographic conditions, and compare the chromatograms after obtaining the chromatograms
Quantitative analysis is to calculate the content of each component in the sample based on the peak height or peak area of the chromatographic peak.
Ways to avoid false positive results are:
(1) Add a standard substance to the sample, compare the retention time and determine the standard recovery rate to see if the chromatographic peak and area change
(2) Change the temperature program of the chromatographic column to see if there is any difference between the retention time of the chromatographic peak and the retention time of the standard in the sample
(3) Use two chromatographic columns with different polarities or different types of detectors for dual-column and dual-detector characterization
(4) Use mass spectrometry or secondary mass spectrometry to perform a full scan and compare it with the mass spectrum of the standard substance, and compare the main qualifier ions and composition ratios with the library to see if they are consistent
