Under a new deal with renewable energy investor Greencoat Capital, HSBC's UK Pension Plan will reportedly invest £250 million in UK solar and wind farms

As a commitment to Green UK Week, pension funds will be used to invest in solar and wind farms, with Greencoat identifying assets
.
"Renewable energy infrastructure can provide attractive risk-adjusted returns
for investors seeking long-term real assets as well as predictable cash flows," said the Chairman of the Board of HSBC Pension Trusts.
The investment characteristics of these inflation-linked assets are ideally suited to provide the income
needed to meet our long-term pension liabilities.

HSBC is no stranger
to UK solar.
The bank's UK office building is powered by solar produced by 61MW of Swindon Solar Farm, the UK's largest project arranged through bushing, under a 15-year power purchase agreement
