Recently, the human long non-coding RNA (long non-coding RNA, lncRNA) database LncBook, developed by the Beijing Genomics Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was officially launched.
the study was published online in the international academic journal Nucleic Acids Research under the title LncBook: a curated knowledgebase of human long-coding RNAs.
in recent years, the research on lncRNA has been an international hot topic, the study shows that lncRNA plays an important role in a variety of biological processes and is closely related to the occurrence of disease, but the annotation information and quality of lncRNA still lags far behind the protein coding gene.
LncBook database not only provides a wealth of high-quality human lncRNA data sets, but also conducts large-scale multi-group data analysis, as well as system functions and disease annotations, and provides a large amount of available information and data for functional experimental research and bioinformatics analysis.
based on rigorous review criteria, LncBook consolidated existing lncRNA data and identified new lncRNA, obtaining a total of 270,044 lncRNA transcripts.
on this basis, LncBook conducts large-scale, in-depth data analysis at the multi-group levels of lncRNA expression, methylation, mutating, miRNA-lncRNA interactions.
at the expression level, map the expression of lncRNA in 32 or 53 normal human tissues, and identify 49,115 highly tissue-specific (tissue-specific) and 819 holder (housekeeping) lncRNA; Methylation map of the region; at the variation level, based on dbSNP database SNP site notation lncRNA region 92,725,757 SNP minimum equialal frequency (based on thousands of human genome data), ClinVar and COSMIC disease association information; and 128,392,451 lncRNA-miRNA interactione entries were predicted.
the above results are displayed in the LncBook database as a diagram or table, and the relevant information can be downloaded for free.
based on the above data, LncBook also predicted 97,998 potential disease-related lncRNAs.
, on the basis of lncRNA Wiki, LncBook commented on the function of the system and disease information on 1,867 literature reports.
LncBook, as an important repository of lncRNA resources, provides the most abundant amount of human lncRNA data to date.
complements the LncRNA Wiki database, LncBook offers friendly query, browsing and visualization capabilities.
users can retrieve lncRNA information via ID/symbol, function, disease name, etc., browse the assigned lncRNA multi-group information, and download all relevant annotation information and analysis results through ftp.
, LncBook also provides tools for research on lncRNA sequence comparison, classification, coding ability prediction, etc. for online analysis.
the study in collaboration with Vladimir Bajic, a professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.
research has been supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' strategic leading science and technology project, the Chinese Academy of Sciences International Partnership Program, the Chinese Academy of Sciences "13th Five-Year Plan" information-specific special funding.
