    The technology was jointly developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhuhai Fulu Energy Technology Co.

    The world's first 1,000 t/a CO2 hydrogenation to gasoline pilot plant developed using this technology was successfully started in Zoucheng Industrial Park, Shandong, and produced clean gasoline products that meet the National VI standard


    It is understood that the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide into liquid fuels and chemicals can not only realize the resource utilization of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, but also facilitate the storage and transportation of renewable energy

    However, carbon dioxide activation and selective conversion are extremely challenging, and domestic and foreign technical routes mostly focus on the synthesis of low-carbon compounds


    To this end, a research team consisting of Sun Jian and Ge Qingjie, researchers from the Dalian Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, developed a carbon dioxide hydrogenation-to-gasoline technology in 2017

    According to Sun Jian, the technology has undergone laboratory tests, 100-gram single-tube evaluation tests, ton-scale catalyst preparation, and pilot-scale process package design.
    In 2020, a thousand-ton pilot plant will be built in Zoucheng Industrial Park, Shandong

    The device has successively achieved material commissioning, official operation and industrial sideline data optimization, and passed the continuous 72-hour on-site assessment organized by the Petrochemical Federation in October 2021


    In addition, this technology creates a composite catalyst, which is applied to the one-step carbon dioxide hydrogenation to gasoline process through the synergistic coupling of multiple active sites.
    The isothermal fixed-bed carbon dioxide hydrogenation reactor improves the carbon dioxide conversion rate and gasoline selectivity, and meets the production requirements of energy saving and carbon reduction; it also realizes the production of high-octane isoparaffins and aromatics under mild conditions.
