    Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an idiopathic chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by alternating periods of remission and activity

    Despite recent advances in understanding disease pathogenesis and new drugs, a significant proportion of patients remain refractory to treatment and require colectomy

    This is a multicenter retrospective cohort study of newly diagnosed UC patients with proctitis and left-sided colon inflammation

    A total of 93 treatment-naïve patients with UC were included in this study with a median follow-up of 44 months
