    The researchers based their particles on hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural polysaccharide already used as a lubricant for osteoarthritis, but the molecule degrades quickly in the body
    .


    So the researchers used a microfluidic device to create tiny methacrylic anhydride-HA gel particles, which they believe may be stronger than HA solutions and stay in the body longer
