    [Source] This product is the horn of the bovine saiga antelope Saiga tatarica Linnaeus
    .
    After hunting, take its horns and dry them in the sun

    .

    [Properties] This product is in the shape of a long cone, slightly curved in a bow shape, and is 15 to 33 cm long; it is off-white or yellowish-white, and the base is slightly bluish gray
    .
    The young branches have "bloodshot" or purple-black markings in the light perspective, and they are as smooth as jade without cracks, while the old branches have fine longitudinal cracks

    .
    Except for the tip part, there are 10 to 16 raised ridges with an interval of about 2cm.
    Hold it with your hand, and fit your four fingers into the recess

    The base of the angle is round in cross section, with a diameter of 3 to 4 cm.
    There are hard and heavy angle posts inside.
    It is commonly called "bone plug".
    The length of the bone plug is about 1/2 or 1/3 of the full angle.

    【Microscopic identification】Cross section of this product: It can be seen that the tissue structure is somewhat undulating

    The undulations of the top of the corner are the most obvious.
    There are often bundles at the peak, and the bundles are mostly triangular; the middle of the corner is slightly wavy, and the bundles are mostly lenticular; the corner base is not wavy, and the bundles are elliptical to round-shaped

    The size of the medullary cavity varies from 10 to 50 (80) um in length, with the largest medullary cavity at the base of the angle

    The cortical cells of the bundle are flat fusiform, with 3 to 5 layers

    .
    The distance between the bundles is wide, and it is full of basic keratinocytes of nearly equidiameter polygon, rhomboid or long and narrow shape

    Cortical cells or basic keratinocytes are colorless and transparent, which contain no or only a small amount of small light gray pigment particles.
    A round grain or thread with strong refractive index is often seen in the center of the cell (see Figure 18-4D~H)
