According to data released by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), Africa and the Middle East added 894 MW of wind capacity in 2019, down 7%
    year-on-year.

The report shows that the total installed wind power capacity in these two regions has cumulatively reached 6 GW, and the installed capacity is expected to grow by about 10.
    7 GW
over the next five years, driven by installations in South Africa, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
Expect these countries to ?? 3.
    3 GW, 1.
    8 GW, 1.
    2 GW and 1.
2 GW of wind power capacity
will be installed in 2024, respectively.

According to the data, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Ethiopia lead the way in terms of installed wind power capacity, with 262 MW, 216 MW, 190 MW and 120 MW respectively
    .

The council predicts that South Africa will be the leader in the region, with an additional 3.
    3 GW
installed by 2024 due to projects under construction and a stable project pipeline expected to be installed between 2022 and 2030.

In addition, the council said sub-Saharan African countries show great potential
    for wind energy.
SADC member countries such as Zambia, Tanzania, Namibia and Mozambique alone have 18 GW of wind energy potential
    .
