    According to the latest report released by the World Nuclear Energy Association, in 2019, nuclear power generation reached 2,657 TWh, enough to meet more than
    10% of the world's electricity needs.
    But action is needed now to launch more than 100 new reactor construction projects that will create jobs, boost economic growth and make a significant contribution to

    Agneta Rising, Director General of the World Nuclear Energy Association, said in the launch of the report: "In 2019, nuclear power production grew for the seventh consecutive year and performed well
    .
    In 2020, the world's nuclear reactors have shown resilience and flexibility, adapting to changes in the world's needs while ensuring a stable and reliable power supply

    Growth was particularly strong in Asia, where nuclear power generation grew by 17%
    in 2019.
    In six years, China's nuclear power generation has more than tripled, from 105 TWh in 2013 to 330 TWh in 2019, and now accounts for more than
    half of nuclear energy.

    Agneta Rising commented: "There are more than 100 new nuclear power projects
    ready to start around the world.
    Each of them generates thousands of jobs during construction, and in 60 years or more of operation, they will help contribute to economic recovery plans and provide the clean and reliable electricity
    needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

    In 2019, 6 reactors were commissioned and 4 large PWRs began operation, one in South Korea, one in Russia and two in China
    .
    In addition, two small reactors were launched on the world's first purpose-built floating nuclear power plant, located in Pevik
    , on Russia's northeast coast.

    Nuclear power generation declined in North America, Western and Central Europe, but increased in Africa, Asia, South America, Eastern Europe and Russia

    The global average capacity factor for power generation reactors increased from 79.
