Introduction: basic situation of oil and edible vegetable oil varieties in China: according to the current production statistics of China, oil mainly includes rapeseed, peanut, sunflower seed, sesame and jute But in fact, soybeans and cottonseed are also raw materials for squeezing oil Soybean, rapeseed, peanut and cottonseed are the main raw materials for pressing oil in China According to the order of consumption, soybean oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil, palm oil and cotton oil are the main varieties of edible oil consumption, among which vegetable oil and soybean oil account for about 60% of the total consumption, peanut oil and palm oil account for about 30%, and cotton oil accounts for about 7% (I) production and development of oil and edible oil in China: after the opening of oil market in 1993, the consumption capacity of edible oil in China was fully released, and the prices of oil and edible oil increased significantly, stimulating the production and processing of domestic oil In 1995, the output of oil increased to 22.5 million tons, producing nearly 700 edible oil Ten thousand tons (excluding domestic edible oil, soybean and cottonseed, which are converted into oil at a certain rate, the same below), increased by about 4.5 million tons and 1.3 million tons respectively compared with 1993; the production of domestic oil and edible oil has been hovering in the following two years; from 1998 to 2000, the production of oil continued to develop, mainly the area and production of rapeseed and peanut increased continuously, and the oil production in 2000 reached 2955 The output of edible oil increased to about 8 million tons in 2001-2002 However, due to the successive increase of cottonseed and soybean production in 2001-2002, the output of edible oil increased slightly to about 8.3 million tons Due to the unfavorable climate, the oil production fell again in, and the soybean and cottonseed did not achieve the expected target of increasing production However, the output of rapeseed, the main squeezed variety, increased, and the oil production remained at about 8.3 million tons (II) the consumption demand of edible oil: with the continuous growth of income, people's consumption concept is also changing In recent years, people pay more and more attention to healthy consumption, from satiety to eating well to eating healthy The consumption of animal oil is less and less, and the consumption of vegetable oil is increasing year by year In terms of annual per capita consumption, at the beginning of oil market liberalization in 1993, the per capita consumption of edible oil in urban areas was 7.1kg, and that in rural areas was 4.06kg; in 1996, the per capita consumption in urban areas was 7.6kg, and that in rural areas was 4.59kg In 2000, 8.2kg was in urban areas and 5.45kg in rural areas; in 2002, 8.5Kg was in urban areas and about 5.8kg was in rural areas The above per capita consumption in urban and rural areas is only for household consumption If other consumption is added, it is preliminarily estimated that the per capita consumption of domestic edible oil in recent two years is about 10kg In terms of the total annual consumption, in the early 1980s, the annual consumption of edible oil in China was less than 6 million tons By 1996, it had exceeded 10 million tons, increased to about 12.2 million tons in 2000, and reached about 13.8 million tons in 2002 We estimate that it was about 14.7 million tons in 2003 According to the above consumption estimates, from 1996 to 2000, the average annual consumption increase of edible oil was about 600000 tons; from 2000 to 2003, the average annual consumption increase was about 800000 tons It can be seen that with the development of domestic economy, the demand for oil consumption has been growing steadily, and the annual consumption has an increasing trend (3) the gap of oil and edible oil production and demand and the trend of import change: as the growth rate of consumption demand of oil pressing products is faster than that of oil production and supply, the gap of oil and edible oil production and demand increases year by year (the gap of oil production and demand refers to the difference between the amount of oil squeezed products produced in China and the actual demand) Take edible oil as an example: in 1996-1997, the gap between production and demand was about 3.5 million tons; in 1998-2000, about 4 million tons; in 2001, more than 4.5 million tons; in 2002, about 5.5 million tons; in 2003, about 6.5 million tons The gap between production and demand has directly led to a large number of oil and edible oil imports in recent years From the perspective of oil plants: the main oil plants imported in China are soybeans and rapeseed In 1996, soybean was converted into net import, which was 1.11 million tons in that year In the following years, soybean import continued to grow, reaching 4.32 million tons in 1999 In July 1999, China began to implement the policy of increasing value-added tax on soybean meal import In 2000, new large-scale oil processing plants were built in the coastal areas of China, the demand for oil processing increased, and soybean import surged In 2000, the import exceeded 1000 tons 10000 tons, 10.42 million tons, 13.94 million tons in 2001; 11.32 million tons in 2002; 20 million tons in 2003, 20.74 million tons In 1998, a large amount of rapeseed was imported, 1.39 million tons in that year, 2.6 million tons in 1999 and 2.97 million tons in 2000 After 2001, the price of rapeseed in the international market increased, the profit of import processing was poor, and the import decreased In 2001, 1.72 million tons were imported, 620000 tons were imported in 2002, and only 170000 tons were imported in 2003 From the perspective of edible oil: after China's edible oil was transferred to the stage of net import in 1986, the import experienced three stages: the first stage (1986-1993): a small amount of edible oil was imported, and the net import volume never exceeded 1 million tons The second stage (1994-1995): the leap growth stage of edible oil import After the opening of oil market in 1993, the gap between production and consumption increased to more than 2 million tons From 1993 to 1994, there was a wave of rush purchase of oil and edible oil In 1994, the net import of edible oil increased to 1.36 million tons, and in 1995, it soared to 3.01 million tons The third stage (after 1996): from single import of edible oil to double import of edible oil and oil, the actual net import volume includes two parts: import of edible oil and import of raw material into oil From 1996 to 1998, the net import never exceeded 3 million tons, reaching 3.64 million tons in 1999, and then the net import increased continuously in three years, breaking through 4 million tons, reaching 4.56 million tons in 2000, 4.58 million tons in 2001 and 4.87 million tons in 2002 In 2003, the net import soared, breaking through 8 million tons, reaching 8.14 million tons, including 4.36 million tons of imported edible oil and 3.73 million tons of imported soybean oil The main reasons for the surge in imports are as follows: first, the gap between domestic production and demand is further enlarged; second, the import is insufficient in 2002; third, the sales profit of imported products is considerable, the market operators are likely to increase, and the total inventory of operating enterprises is relatively increased, especially the imported soybean inventory
