In the first half of 2019, Europe added 1.
9 GW of new offshore wind capacity, up from 1.
1 GW
in the same period last year.
Among them, the United Kingdom added 931 MW, Denmark added 374 MW, Belgium added 370 MW and Germany added 252 MW
.
It is worth noting that in the first half of this year, the Beatrice offshore wind farm near Moray Firth, Scotland, was put into operation, with an installed capacity of 588 megawatts, enough to power 450,000 households in the UK
.
The Beatrice project is jointly funded by SSE Renewables (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%), with SSE Renewables leading development, construction and operation
.
The wind farm is currently the fourth largest offshore wind farm in the world
.
The commissioning of the new offshore wind farm reaffirms the UK's leading position in the offshore wind market and is another step
towards a zero-carbon future.
