India and Japan have reportedly signed a loan agreement
for the construction of the Turga pumped storage power project in Purulia, West Bengal.
The project will contribute to the industrial development and living standards
of the region.
"The objective of the project is to strengthen the ability to cope with fluctuations in electricity supply and demand and improve the stability
of electricity supply through the construction of pumped storage facilities," India's finance ministry said in a statement.

The Japan ODA loan agreement was signed

Mohapatra, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Katsuo Matsumoto, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in New Delhi.
"This further consolidates and strengthens the strategic and global partnership
between India and Japan," the statement released said.
India and Japan have a long history of bilateral development cooperation since 1958, and economic cooperation between India and Japan has grown
steadily over the past few years.
