India's total installed solar power capacity reportedly fell 30% to 1,589 MW in the third quarter of 2018 (July-September), compared to 2,278 MW
in the same period last year.
Installed capacity also decreased by 4% in the last quarter (April-June 2018) to more than 1,659 MW
.
According to consulting firm Mercom in a report, in the third quarter of 2018, the total number of large-scale installations was 1154 MW, 43% less than 2013 MW installed in the third quarter of 2017 and 7.

less than the 1244 MW installed in the second quarter of 2018.
In addition, the number of rooftop installations in the third quarter of 2018 was 435 MW, an increase of 64% compared to the 265 MW installed in the third quarter of 2017 and a 5%
increase from the 415 MW installed in the second quarter of 2018.
Marcom's CEO said, "The lower level of installation is not surprising
due to the slowdown in tender and auction activity last year.
Unclear safeguard taxes, goods and services tax rates, and land and transmission issues have all weakened the momentum of the solar market

India's solar installations have reached 6,600 MW so far this year, with large-scale projects accounting for 5,382 MW and rooftop installations accounting for 1,240 MW

The report also said that the average selling price of modules in China (qoq) decreased by 21% qoQ in the third quarter of 2018, while module prices in India decreased by 6%
qoQ.
Overall, cumulative solar installed capacity totaled 26,000 MW at the end of the third quarter of 2018, of which large-scale solar projects accounted for 89% and rooftop solar accounted for the remaining 11%.
Mercom forecasts a total installed solar capacity of approximately 8,000 megawatts
for calendar year 2018.
