Recently, Indonesia's energy minister said that Indonesia is considering using local coal benchmarks to determine consumer electricity prices to reflect the country's energy mix's main fuel source
    .

It is understood that the current consumer electricity price is calculated based on the Indonesian crude oil price
    .

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said the change was being considered because about 60 percent of Indonesia's electricity comes from coal production, and this is unlikely to change
    before 2025.
He added that the current use of diesel for power generation is decreasing
    .

The benchmark price for Indonesian coal is the monthly average
of the Argus-Indonesia Coal Index, the Platts Kalimantan 5,900 assessment, the Newcastle Export Index and the global COAL Newcastle Index.
