Indonesian Quarantine Bureau takes emergency measures against H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Philippines

According to the notification on the website of the Indonesian Agricultural Quarantine Bureau on April 22, 2022, the Indonesian Agricultural Quarantine Bureau issued a notice on raising awareness of the
Philippine Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)
.
In order to prevent the entry of highly pathogenic avian influenza from the Philippines into Indonesia, the circular requires various working groups of the Agricultural Quarantine Bureau, local quarantine bureaus, and border workstations to refuse the import of poultry animals and poultry products from the Philippines
.



The notice shows that the Indonesian Quarantine Bureau detected 10 samples positive for H5N1 strain from 2,730 ducks imported from the Philippines on March 24, 2022 using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method; on March 28, 2022 Twenty samples from 652 Philippine ducks were found to be positive for the H5N1 strain
