Recently, Indonesia's Minister of Mining and Energy announced that the country is considering approving the export
of some minerals such as bauxite and nickel that meet certain conditions.
The comprehensive ban came into effect
    on January 12, 2014.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan said in an interview that they were revising a government rule
to cushion the impact of the ore export ban that began two years ago.

Jonan said they are taking the issue seriously, which is why the president is expected to announce or approve new rules soon, possibly in early
January, to revise existing government rules.

Indonesia is a major producer of copper, nickel and other metals, and traders have been closely monitoring progress
    in this regard.
The minister said there were not enough refineries for bauxite and nickel to process all the ore and the government would consider liberalizing some exports
    .

Indonesia's economic coordination minister Darmin Nasution said that mining companies may allow copper concentrate exports
after January 2017 if they meet certain conditions.

Currently, miners with contracts must obtain special mining permits to continue exporting concentrates
    .
In addition, they must pay export taxes and build refineries
    within five years.
