Sinochem News recently, Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK), a refining and petrochemical subsidiary of Pertamina, said that by 2030, Indonesia’s demand for petroleum fuels and petrochemical products will increase by 3% and 5%, respectively.

In order to cope with the gap between production capacity and market demand expectations, five measures will be taken, including expanding the production capacity of five existing refineries and improving gasoline quality; building a new independent refinery in East Java; developing petrochemical projects; and developing petrochemical-related projects.

Currently, approximately 70% of Indonesia's petrochemical products rely on imports
