Appendix A
Determination of total chlorine content of chloromethyl methyl ether-neutralization method (reference)
The purpose of setting up this method is mainly to reduce the pollution of chloromethyl methyl ether and nitrobenzene to the environment
This method is suitable for chloromethyl methyl ether obtained by passing hydrogen chloride into a methanol-formaldehyde solution .
A1 Method summary
Chloromethyl methyl ether is decomposed into methanol, formaldehyde and hydrochloric acid in water, and hydrochloric acid is ionized in water into hydrogen ions and chloride ions.

A3 Analysis step
Take 20mL of freshly boiled and cooled distilled water into a 50mL volumetric flask, weigh to the nearest 0.
Add 50 mL of water to the Erlenmeyer flask, then add 10.
A4 Expression and calculation of analysis results
The total amount of chlorine expressed in mass percentage (X) is calculated according to formula (A1):
Where: c— the actual concentration of sodium hydroxide standard titration solution, mol/L;
V—The volume of the standard titration solution of sodium hydroxide consumed, mL;
m—the mass of the sample, g;
0.
Take the arithmetic average of the two parallel determination results as the determination result, and the difference between the two parallel determination results shall not exceed 0.
