Aquarius Marine Coatings (AMC) has launched Coppercoat-Commercial anti - corrosion coatings for offshore energy applications .
Marine Coatings anti-corrosion coating is reported that this paint natural antibacterial agent contains a high content of copper, to protect subsea infrastructure from the effects of plant, animal and microbial growth layer, while meeting environmental and safety standards.
Coatings Prior to the launch of this new coating, the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) in the United Kingdom completed a five-year test funded by EDF Energy.
The test concluded that Coppercoat Commercial is the best antifouling protection for underwater turbines Program.
According to AMC, although the purpose of the test is to support wave and hydropower facilities, the same coating can also be applied to any static or dynamic subsea structure to improve the life and efficiency of fixed and floating wind farms, especially In important ocean current areas.
Thirty years ago, the company developed Coppercoat for the marine industry.
Since then, AMC has continuously improved its products and gained a lot of first-hand experience to understand what happens to the ship’s hull and underwater equipment without protection.
Biofouling on submarine structures can cause a variety of problems, from accelerated aging, increased weight, resistance, and operating temperature, to corrosion of metal products, and more commonly, microbial corrosion (MIC).
Coppercoat Commercial can provide a reliable long-term solution to this problem.
According to AMC, Coppercoat-Commercial is seen as a key component to extend the life of the infrastructure needed to support wave or hydroelectric power generation and help make it a viable part of the energy mix.
AMC's experience in the marine field has shown that the service life of Coppercoat-Commercial can be as long as 20-3 years depending on the use and conditions.
