Recently, Axalta (Axalta) released its 67th Annual Global Automotive Color Popularity Report, which shows the nuances of the global automotive market and regions.

This report is one of the longest and most comprehensive reports of its kind.

It also found differences in popularity among different models.

Globally, neutral colors dominated the market with a market share of 82% in 2010, while silver ranked first with a market share of 26%.

Today, the four neutral colors of white, black, gray, and silver continue to dominate the automotive market, accounting for 80% of the global market share, and presenting a new combination (mixed with white, black, gray and silver).

White, black, and gray are the top three popular colors in the global automotive market.

The survey shows that since 2011, white has been the most popular car color in the world, with 38% of people choosing white (29% pure white, 9% pearl white).

Since last year, the prevalence of black, gray and red has increased by 1%, reaching 19%, 13% and 6% respectively.

Gray is becoming more and more popular all over the world.

This year, silver disappeared from the top three colors in the world, and its 10% popularity represents the lowest level of the color in more than a decade.

The most vivid color in the global palette is blue, accounting for 7% of the total.

Globally, warmer tones such as beige/brown and yellow/gold account for 5% of the entire tone color market, and cars in these colors are mainly distributed in Russia, India, Japan and China.

Not long ago, Axalta celebrated its best color of the 2019 global car of the year-Sahara Golden Brown.

Axalta said that this combination of golden and bronze colors is mainly affected by the development trend of two-tone multicolor inside and outside the car.

The Sahara golden brown and black combination, represents this day and future production options.

From a regional perspective, the color preference of cars has not changed much in the past year, with only one significant change: the popularity of white in Europe has dropped by 1%, and the popularity of gray has increased by 2%, which makes gray occupy the top spot in Europe for the first time.

At the same time, Axalta has also found a variety of tones around the world.

The fashion trends of dark navy blue, medium denim blue and medium to light green blue are different.

    Asia

Asia still has the highest proportion of white cars, at 49%, pearl white is the most popular in the region and continues to gain status.

The popularity of black in Asia is 18%.

The popularity of gray in Asia is 6%, which is the lowest among all regions in the world.
In 2014, gray reached double digits for the last time, and its popularity reached 10%.

Although white cars continued to decline slightly in the second year, there is still no country with more white cars than China.
China continues to paint most cars white at 57%, most of which are pure white.
Axalta's Chinese color designer Annie You pointed out: "Chinese buyers prefer modernity, sophistication and cleanliness, which makes white the obvious choice."

In addition, black cars have grown by 3% in China to a total of 21%, which is the highest point in five years.
In 2014, black cars had a 24% market share.
In 2010, the market share of silver in China was 33%.
Today, the market share of silver in China is 4%, which is the lowest silver market in the world.

White cars in India increased to 33% because pearl white is more popular; brown/beige increased to 7%, the highest in Asia.
Globally, India has the highest silver usage at 31%

Japan's love for white cars has a long history and can be found on the pearlescent version, which is the highest area in the world that embraces pearlescent white.
Overall, the popularity of white in Japan is 36%, the highest since 1990.
Blue's approval rate is 9%, but it is far below the highest level in the mid-1990s, when its approval rate was 26%.
Since 2016, the percentage of black has reached 22%, and the last time in history it reached a similar level in 1992, when it reached 21%.

White is the most popular car color in Korea, and its market share has reached 33% for eight consecutive years.
South Korea’s silver car market share reached 50% in 2008, but now silver is continuing to decline at a rate of 10%.
