Recently, it was learned from China Chamber of Commerce for import and export of medical and health products that the first batch of international business standards for plant extracts will be issued as soon as March 2013 The 11 plant extract standards to be issued are: bilberry extract, green tea extract, Ginkgo biloba extract, grape seed extract, silymarin extract, Polygonum cuspidatum extract, Centella asiatica extract, willow branch extract, ginseng extract, hesperidin and rutin extract In February 2012, the General Administration of customs and the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and Quarantine of the people's Republic of China (AQSIQ) adjusted the catalogue of legal inspection to classify some plant extract products into the category of food additives and conduct import and export hygiene inspection, which is due to the lack of current standards for most plant extract products For a long time, China's plant extract industry has been highly dependent on the international market, with 80% of its products exported to foreign countries As the largest consumer region of plant supplements and herbal medicines in the world, Europe and North America, 70% of its plant raw materials come from China As there is no standard to follow, the export enterprises of plant extracts in China have always followed the customer's standards and can only passively produce according to the customer's requirements In order to improve the product quality, standardize the industry order and promote the healthy and sustainable development of the industry, the plant extract branch of the medical insurance chamber of Commerce invited relevant plant extract enterprises to participate in the formulation of international business standards for plant extracts, and established the international business standards drafting committee of plant extract branch to screen the standards and applications put forward by enterprises The implementation of international business standards will help to improve the quality of plant extract products, improve the quality standard system, improve the industry access mechanism, strengthen the self-discipline of industry enterprises, and ensure the healthy and sustainable development of the industry The relevant indicators and determination methods of the international business standards for plant extracts formulated this time will be combined with the reference to the international standards or Pharmacopoeia provisions, which are applicable to the export of products to the international markets such as the European Union, the United States, Japan, etc., and can be used for reference when formulating the national standards.
