    02 Origin of the project


    Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co.


    The Shanghai United Isocyanate Project is composed of Shanghai Lianheng Isocyanate Co.


    In production and operation, SBPC relies on other companies in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park to provide basic raw materials such as chlorine, crude MDI, and supporting utilities to form a circular economy industrial chain


    Due to market demand, SBPC plans to carry out MDI refining and expansion in the chemical industry zone to engage in MDI products (including isocyanate polymethylene polyphenylene ester pMDI, diphenylmethane 4,4'-diisocyanate ME, (1 ,1'-methylene bis[isocyanatobenzene]MI), and build an MDI production capacity of 90,000t/a refining equipment



    03 Overview of BASF's location in Shanghai


    Currently, BASF has two bases in Shanghai: BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park and BASF Shanghai Caojing Base

    BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park

    BASF Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Park is located in Gaoqiao Town, Pudong New District, Shanghai.
    It became the registered place of BASF's Greater China headquarters in 2004.
    BASF Shanghai Innovation Park was completed in 2012.
    Its main products include polyamide PA and polybutylene terephthalate.
    PBT, polyurethane material, thermoplastic polyurethane TPU, microcellular polyurethane elastomers, acrylic polymers and a colorant dispersions, polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and the like

    BASF Shanghai Caojing Base

    The base is located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone in Caojing, Shanghai (the MDI refinement expansion project is located here).
    It was completed in 2002 and currently has a wholly-owned company and three joint ventures, namely BASF Chemical Co.

    (wholly owned) and BASF Shanghai Coatings Co.
    , Ltd.
    The company (a joint venture jointly established by BASF and Shanghai Huayi Fine Chemical Co.

    (two joint venture companies jointly established by BASF, Huntsman and several partners), mainly Products include polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF®), toluene diisocyanate (TDI), diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), polyisocyanate (Basonat®), precious metal salts and solutions, automotive coatings, resins and electrophoretic paints, polyamide polymerization composition, process catalysts, antioxidants and the like
