"Financial Tribune" reported on August 30 that according to the chief executive of the Iranian Cotton Fund, the drought and the low efficacy of pesticides on the market have caused pests in the cotton plantations across the country to be rampant, which has had an impact on cotton production.
It is estimated that about 60,000 tons of refined cotton will be produced this year
    .
The official pointed out that Iraq’s domestic demand for refined cotton is increasing every year, and currently exceeds 150,000 tons per year.
Last year, it imported more than 77,000 tons of cotton.
However, in view of the decline in production, it will need to import about 100,000 tons this year.
It is expected to start in mid-September.
