BASF signs a patent cross-licensing agreement with Umicore

BASF has signed a non-exclusive patent cross-licensing agreement with Umicore, a global material science group, covering a wide range of cathode active materials (CAM) and cathode material precursor (PCAM) products, including nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM), nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA), nickel-cobalt-manganese aluminum (NCMA) and high-capacity manganese-rich materials (HE-NCM).

Umicore has been focusing on three key businesses
: catalysis, energy and surface treatment, and recycling.
The agreement covers a wide range of patented technologies related to properties such as chemical composition, powder morphology and chemical stability, covering more than 100 patent families
filed in Europe, the United States, China, Korea and Japan.
Each party reserves the right to license third parties to
enforce its intellectual property rights in the future.
