WAKNER is expanding its silicone rubber production capacity in Jincheon, South Korea, in response to the growing demand
for silicone elastomers in its region.
The company will build new production lines for silicone sealants, specialty silicones and liquid silicone rubber for
the construction, electronics and automotive industries.
After completion, Jincheon's existing production line will be relocated to a new production base
.
With an investment of around EUR 16 million, construction will begin at the end of July and production is expected to begin in the
first quarter of 2018.
August Williams, Managing Director of WACKER, emphasized: "The Asian market for sealants and encapsulation materials is growing rapidly
.
In order to be able to meet the growing demand there in the long term, we have decided to significantly expand the production capacity of our Jincheon production site to further strengthen our leading position as a silicone producer in the region and continue to benefit from
the rapidly growing Asian market.
"At the same time, the original production equipment will be dismantled at the end of next year and shipped to the new production site
in Jincheon.
" We have two goals for building our new production site," says Williams, "one is to help us expand our silicone sealants business in the region by expanding our production capacity, and we want to continue to expand our specialty silicone business
.
