On July 20, Arkema announced that it plans to acquire Dutch sealant producer Den Braven for 485 million euros, which is expected to close
in the fourth quarter of this year.
This is another step
in its plans to develop its high-performance materials following the acquisition of adhesive manufacturer Bostik.
According to Arkema, the market for adhesives and sealants is still fragmented today, and the acquisition brings Bostik into the ranks
that makes the market more integrated.
The combination of Dan Braven and Bostik will also make Arkema a global market leader
in high-performance sealants.
The market has great prospects, especially those advocating new regulations to improve building energy efficiency and the growing demand for products in emerging countries have made the market grow at an average annual rate of 3%~4%.
