Messer will build its first hydrogen production facility
in Germany, and Messer has signed a 15-year hydrogen supply contract
with Rutgers Germany, a subsidiary of Rain Carbon.
Messer will invest EUR 9 million in a new hydrogen production facility
in Castrop-Lauxel, Germany.
This is Messer's first hydrogen production plant in Germany and is scheduled to start operations
in the third quarter of 2019.
The production facility produces hydrogen from natural gas using a steam reforming process with a hydrogen output of 2,700 standard cubic meters per hour, equivalent to 15 carrier loads per day
.
Rain Carbon will use the hydrogen produced for hydrogenation of industrial resins, and Messer will also use the hydrogen production facility to supply hydrogen
to other hydrogen customers in the region.
