Issue 16/2021 - BDO core catalyst is localized

, the first domestic 1,4-butanediol (BDO) production line using domestic catalysts was successfully operated
on the company's 2×4,500 tons/year BDO plant.

At present, using acetylene and formaldehyde as raw materials, the production of 1,4-butanediol by modified alkyne method is still the mainstream process route
.
However, for a long time, the manufacturing technology of copper-bismuth catalyst, which is mainly used in the synthesis of 1,4-butynediol, the core of the process, has been mastered by foreign companies, which is expensive and has a long supply cycle, which restricts the development of
the domestic 1,4-butanediol industry.

The core catalyst selected for this device, the 1,4-butynediol synthesis catalyst RK-17 (oxide type), is provided
by Dalian Ruike Technology Co.
, Ltd.
The successful application of this catalyst has made Dalian Rick the first manufacturer
in China to realize the industrial production and application of this type of catalyst.

The operating data show that the performance of Dalian Rick 1,4-butynediol synthesis catalyst RK-17 is relatively stable
compared with imported catalysts during the trial period.
Specifically: the formaldehyde concentration at the outlet of each reactor, the copper ions in the outlet solution of the reaction system, the particle size distribution of the extracted catalyst, the filtration time, the pressure difference of the reaction system and other indicators are relatively stable, reaching the performance indicators
of the imported catalyst.
