WACKER recently presented a new binder for coated paper at the PTS Coating Technology Symposium 2017 in Munich: VINNAPAS.
EF 3101 – a vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer emulsion specially developed for paper coatings for rotogravure printing
    .

The binder's excellent compressibility imparts good surface smoothness to the paper, ensuring excellent print quality, while also complying with the requirements of the EU Ecolabel for drawing preparation and the relevant regulations
    for various food contact materials.
Its glass transition temperature (Tg) is 0°C, so it has excellent elasticity and flexibility
    .
The paper coating formulated with this emulsion is highly compressible and the ink is well transferred from the plate cylinder to the paper surface
    .
In addition, the binder imparts a good coating of the calendered sheet gloss and high hiding power
    .
The surface of the paper treated with this new binder tends to form clear and sharp printed images, not only bright colors, but also excellent
    ink gloss.
VINNAPAS? EF 3101 also has rheological properties
similar to alternative binders such as styrene-acrylic emulsion and styrene-butadiene latex.
SO, VINNAPAS? EF 3101 is particularly suitable for paper coating
for all types of high-end magazines, catalogues, books and packaging.

Combined with existing ingredients, the new product makes it easy to formulate the desired coating color and can be applied
using traditional paper coating methods 。 IN ADDITION, VINNAPAS? EF 3101 emulsion is manufactured without the use of alkylphenol ethoxylate (APEO) surfactants and complies with several environmental labelling standards, such as the EU Ecolabel requirements for drawings, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment's Regulation on Food Contact Materials (Recommended Clauses XIV and XXXVI) and the US Food and Drug Administration (21CFR 176.
    170/180).
