Canada bans the use of polyurethane foam containing TCEP in some children's products

Canada recently passed the Consumer Product Safety Act Appendix 2 regulatory amendments, which will take effect
on October 24, 2014.

Under the relevant requirements of the regulation, Canada will prohibit the production, import, promotion or sale of consumer products
intended for children under three years of age made wholly or partly from polyurethane foam (PUF) containing tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP).
Prohibited consumer goods include toys made from PUF containing TCEP, sleeping position fixing pads, nursing pillow cushions, etc
.
TCEP is flame retardant and is commonly used as plasticizers and viscosity modifiers in polyurethanes, polyester resins, polyacrylates, and some other polymers, where it may cause cancer and affect fertility
