Toray completes capacity expansion of Czech meltblown nonwoven materials
TORAY today announced that its subsidiaries Toray Textile Central Europe (TTCE) and Toray Advanced Materials Korea (TAK) have completed the construction of a new plant in Prosthof, Czech Republic, expanding the Group's Airlite automotive interior soundproofing business
in Europe.
Toray said that Airlite products are meltblown nonwoven sound-absorbing materials made of lightweight polypropylene and polyester
.
This material improves passenger comfort
by suppressing noise from driving, vibration, and external vehicles.
TTCE's new plant in the Czech Republic will start operations in October this year with an annual capacity of 1,200 tons
.
The new facility will complement TTCE's airbag fabric business and contribute to the expansion of the automotive materials business
.
Toray added that TAK intends to use the new facilities to support its automotive interior soundproofing business in Europe and further serve
automakers and major component manufacturers as the European electric vehicle market grows.
According to Toray, Europe has taken the lead in strengthening vehicle noise regulations in developed countries, including internal combustion engine models
.
In the coming years, the demand for electric vehicles will surge
.
The company expects the application of lightweight sound-absorbing materials to continue to expand
