    Jilin Petrochemical MIBK catalyst extended life service

    Recently, the catalyst used in this batch of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant of Jilin Petrochemical Fine Chemicals Plant has been in continuous operation for 17 months, with a cumulative production of 23,200 tons of MIBK products, far exceeding the design period
    of 9 months of service life and 15,000 tons of production products provided by the manufacturer.
    According to the person in charge of the plant, since April 2012, the device has entered the cost-free stage of catalyst use, extending its life and service for 8 months, saving 4.
    8 million yuan
    in this alone.

    The MIBK device uses imported catalysts, which are very expensive, and the cost of replacing each batch of catalysts is about
    10 million yuan.
    In order to reduce production costs and improve the efficiency of the plant, the factory's technicians have summarized a set of successful process operation methods
    .

    According to the operation law of the catalyst, combined with the actual production of the device, the technical personnel optimize and adjust the important parameters to make the catalyst in the optimal use conditions

    In the daily monitoring and analysis, according to the sample analysis results, they appropriately adjusted the production time and production temperature of the top of the MIBK light component tower and water purification tower, which improved the yield of acetone and MIBK and reduced the consumption
    of raw materials.

    At the same time, technicians also upgraded the equipment and facilities of the MIBK device, installed a safety instrumented system, improved the operation level of the equipment and the emergency disposal capacity of the device, and prevented unplanned shutdown from causing damage
    to the catalyst.
    In addition, the plant also strengthens the monitoring of raw materials, and regularly analyzes and samples the purity of acetone recovered from the new acetone recovery tower, hydrogen newly entered the reactor and circulating hydrogen purity, so as to avoid affecting the life of
    the catalyst due to raw material quality problems.
