On October 9, the Supervisory Board of Covestro approved an investment plan of around EUR 1.
5 billion to build a world-class diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) plant
in Baytown, USA.
The investment will be the largest single investment
in the company's history.
The new plant will be located within the existing Baytown site at Covestro, with a capacity of 500,000 metric tons and is expected to start production
in 2024.
Covestro's total MDI production capacity in North America will reach around 740,000 tons, making it the largest MDI producer
in the region.
