Issue 24/2019 - Bio-based plastics provide surface solutions for automotive interiors

Eastman announced that it has partnered with NB Coatings to develop a new Class A spray surface solution
for automotive interiors based on TrēvaTM engineered bioplastics.
Recently, Eastman began producing^TrēvaTM bio-based recyclables.


The bio-based content of Trēva^TM material is 42%~46%.

Thanks to carbon regeneration, the production of^TrēvaTM materials can continuously reduce waste and improve resource efficiency
.
In automotive applications, TrēvaTM material has good optical and birefringence properties, high transparency and strength, and is suitable for applications such as human-machine interface (HMI) lenses; TrēvaTM plastics can withstand adverse conditions such as heat, humidity, ultraviolet rays, scratches/damage and other adverse conditions in the interior environment to meet the general durability needs; Its low VOCs emissions are very suitable for the application requirements of vehicle interior components; Its good processing convenience and flowability also provide excellent dimensional stability, making it suitable for thin-walled designs
with low consumables and lightweight.
