Issue 34/2015 - China Steel Research Institute has made a series of breakthroughs in the field of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials

Rare earth permanent magnet materials are indispensable key materials in information, energy and other high-tech and national defense fields, and account for more than 40%
of the weight in China's rare earth application fields.
For a long time, the lag of basic scientific research related to rare earth permanent magnet materials and the backward preparation technology have restricted the development of
high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials.

China Steel Research Institute, together with relevant research institutions, universities and enterprises, has carried out research on key technologies such as rare earth permanent magnet material organization regulation, magnet preparation and production equipment upgrading, and achieved a series of results: First, it has developed key technologies such as crystal growth orientation and microscopic morphology control to realize the control of the structure of magnets; The second is to solve the technical problems of controlling secondary dehydrogenation and realize the batch preparation of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials; The third is to design and manufacture key production equipment, and the key indicators of high-performance permanent magnet materials produced have reached the international leading level; The fourth is to develop a research method on the dynamic micromagnetic structure of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials to solve the problem
of magnetic domain observation under magnetized state.
The comprehensive performance (maximum magnetic energy product plus coercivity) of high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials produced by applying the results of this project has been improved from 63 to 71, exceeding the international industry level

The results have been promoted and applied in related enterprises, and 5 production lines have been built

This achievement has driven the technological upgrading of related products of China's high-performance rare earth permanent magnet industry, comprehensively improved the technical level and competitiveness of China's rare earth permanent magnet industry, and produced good economic and social benefits
