In 2011, PetroChina Jinzhou Petrochemical undertook the project of "Technology Development of MTBE Sulfur Content Reduction" of CNPC, and the research group completed the structural analysis and thermal decomposition stability experiment of MTBE sulfur-containing compounds in that year, established a computer model of the desulfurization process, and conducted a laboratory test verification test
according to the model prediction conditions.
The experimental results show that most of the sulfides in the MTBE products of Jinzhou Petrochemical Company are high boiling point sulfides, and MTBE can be separated from high boiling point sulfur components by double column distillation technology, so that the MTBE sulfur content meets the requirements of
less than 2ppm.
