The U.
S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently published a proposal for the 2014 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), requiring the use of cellulosic biofuels to be less than required by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA
).
The proposal calls for 17 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel to U.
S.
transportation fuels, less than one
percent of the 1.
75 billion gallons of cellulosic biofuel specified by EISA for use in 2014.
The proposal also calls for more than 15 billion gallons of renewable fuel to be blended between gasoline and diesel, which is also below EISA's 2014 target of
18.
1 billion gallons.
