Progress has been made in the preparation of butadiene by purely biological processes

Global bioenergy companies have announced that they have successfully produced bio-derived butadiene
through direct fermentation.
This is the first time that butadiene
, the most important petrochemical raw material, has been produced through a purely biological production process, i.

without any chemical steps.

Global bioenergy companies say they have created a proprietary production strain that is placed in a lab-scale fermentation facility and added glucose to detect the presence of
butadiene in the exhaust.
