    Recently, the research project jointly developed by the Research Institute of Jilin Petrochemical Company and Beijing University of Chemical Technology to realize the in-situ fermentation-separation process of biomass fuel ethanol using steam osmosis technology has passed the acceptance of the expert group organized by the Ministry of Petroleum Science and Technology Administration of China, marking a solid step
    in the key technology research of non-grain fuel ethanol in China.

    Ethanol fermentation is a typical product inhibition process, where excessive accumulation of ethanol in the fermentation broth inhibits the growth of yeast cells, eventually leading to the termination
    of fermentation.
    As an important topic in the key technology of non-grain fuel ethanol, a method for in-situ separation of ethanol using steam osmosis technology is proposed for the first time in China, which can solve the problem of product inhibition and effectively improve fermentation intensity and ethanol yield
    .

    In the key technology research of non-grain fuel ethanol, this research institute developed and screened a preferential permeable alcohol separation membrane suitable for pilot test through a large number of tests, and the separation effect was stable
    after optimizing the operating conditions of the separation membrane.
